REVISED STANDARDS COMING SOON! Adopted by the Board on 9/28/02 The mission of the EarthTides Pagan Network is to provide opportunities for Pagan groups and solitaries in Maine to connect with each other in positive ways, to advocate for, and educate about, the Pagan religions, and to encourage and facilitate the ethical and honorable practice of those religions, without in any way limiting that freedom of choice which is so essential to our faiths. In keeping with this mission, we have enacted the following Standards. These Standards do not bind individuals to any living person, deity, pantheon, liturgy, expression of faith, or dogma. Rather, they signify the signer’s willingness to abide by a basic set of ethical behaviors. They also provide a mechanism for the organization to investigate alleged violations of these standards of behavior, and to terminate the member status of those whose actions constitute a danger to our community. While we might believe such a measure will never be needed, it is legally important that we have the mechanism in place. EPN particularly respects the right of parents to direct the religious growth of minor children. Thus we support and encourage Pagan parents who choose to raise their children in our faiths. Out of respect for parents who are raising children in other faiths, EarthTides members agree that direct consultation with and written parental approval from a custodial parent is required when individuals under 18 years of age seek to attend Pagan gatherings or to study with members. The following conduct fails to meet the standards for honest and fair practices applicable to members of the EarthTides Pagan Network:
